Culture is very important to the Vietnamese. A great part of their culture is art. One of the most well known art in Vietnam is the Dong Ho paintings. Dong Ho Paintings are a kind of Vietnamese folk painting originating in the Dong Ho Village, in the Bac Ninh Province(1). Dong Ho paintings have about 300 years of history in northern Vietnam (13). The farmers in Dong Ho Village are the people who make these paintings. These farmers produce the paintings as a side job from their farms when the fields are left to rest(2). Many paintings are produced from the Lunar Year in Vietnam “Tet”. Since they are used for the Tet, these paintings are suppose to give good luck(3).
